Creative Commons license Evaluation de la recherche [Dec. 3, 2025]

 Summary

Research evaluation is central to decisions about hiring, promotion, and tenure. Yet the traditional productivity indicators commonly used in these processes, such as publication counts, citation numbers, and journal impact factors, are neither evidence-based nor rational measures of research quality. Despite growing awareness of their limitations, alternative indicators that reflect responsible research practices remain rarely implemented.

In this talk, David Moher offers a comprehensive overview of his work in this field, spanning meta-research and initiatives designed to reshape research assessment. He highlights approaches that are both more evidence-based and better aligned with researchers’ values and interests, with open science serving as a key component of this transformation.
